Due to concerns surrounding the world-wide scare of COVID-19, Combate Americas has decided to postpone all their upcoming live events (Tucson, Ariz. on Friday, March 13; Mexico City, Mex. on Friday, March 20; and San Antonio, Texas on Friday, March 27) and hold their live fights in an as of yet unidentified closed TV studio starting on April 3rd.
Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren in a statement said: “We put the health and safety of our athletes, fans and staff above all other considerations. Combate Americas’ mission is to bring together people throughout the U.S., Mexico, South America and Spain, and that requires frequent travel to an array of locations, both foreign and domestic. Our live studio version of Combate Americas will continue to deliver mucha más acción.”
There is still no word on where the studio is and which fights will be taking place. Its going to be interesting to see how this plays out with the atmosphere of a TV studio vs that of an arena with fans. I guess if you want an idea of what it would look like you could watch old episodes of the Ultimate Fighter and then just imagine commentary.
