Bottom Line: Great show. Deonna Purazzo vs Jordynne Grace was an excellent main event. These two are just magic together. Impacts storytelling is top notch. Everyone on the show has a story, the shows are connected week to week, and the young talent is mixing in quite well with the veterans.
Eric Young is primed for a career resurgence in Impact. His interviews and segments have been off the charts. His world title match next week against Eddie Edwards feels like a huge match and something tells me regardless of how it ends, we will likely see them fight for the title again on PPV. Eric has become the master of reinvention and after years of purgatory feels like a main event guy again.
Brian Myers and Heath continue to disappoint. They could have used this time to reinvent themselves but really have not to this point. Myers is coming off as a disgruntled ex WWE guy, which has been done to death, and Heath is well, same ole Heath. Hopefully something changes with both of them. Honestly if Heath doesn’t turn on Rhyno next week against Reno Scum and say “fuck you for leaving me to rot, we were a team and you abandoned me. Tell your kids that Uncle Heath doesn’t give a shit about them” then I will probably just skip his segments.
RVD looked great against Eddie Edwards. While I’m still not in to the Sami-RVD feud, it’s good to see that the legend can still go.
Wrestlehouse went from a Real World knockoff to a 80s Teen Comedy knockoff. I can’t say that the segments are really for me, and I still think they would be better off on their own via YoutTube as opposed to being played throughout the show, but I’ll be damned if they don’t make me laugh here and there. Can’t wait til its over though to see these talents back in the ring with new found energy and character.
EC3 is at his absolute best right now. He has been totally revitalized and his promos are off the charts. He has not worked a match in many many months so I am anxious to see his work. For my money, Moose vs EC3 is the top draw for Bound For Glory with two guys who are at their peak creatively. I know the story is playing out that EC3 wants to destroy the TNA title, but when he does I hope a new “World Heavyweight Championship” takes its place and becomes recognized.
Possible Bound For Glory Lineup
Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select the following potential matchups for this years Bound For Glory:
Impact Title: Eddie Edwards vs Ken Shamrock. My only disappointment is that I won’t be getting my dream of Angle vs Shamrock here. Hope they work something out with Angle to be the ref or something. Of all the guys Shamrock could work with, Eddie would be the best one to give him a good match.
Eric Young vs Rich Swann
Knockouts Title Match: Deonna Purazzo vs Kylie Rae
4 Way Tag Title Match: The Motor City Machine Guns vs The North vs Ace Austin & Fulton vs The Good Brothers. I’m not a fan of these types of matches and seems like a waste. Would rather The Good Brothers take on either the North or the Guns.
6-Way Impact X Division Title Match – You get a title shot! and YOU get a title shot! And YOOOOU get a title shot! Usual suspects likely to be in this. If they get out of that tiny studio they may even make it a laddrer match like last year.
Call Your Shot Rumble: Hope its not a silly dick grabbing embarassment like last year.
Some glaring omissions are EC3 vs Moose and matches for Sami and RVD. Zero percent chance they get left off the card.
News and Notes
Impact went to work getting their talent verified finally. Weird that some of their top guys didn’t have blue checks but underneath jobbers on AEW would get theirs after one appearance.
EC3 will also be working ROH shows as he was in town for their last set of tapings in the ROH bubble. Was supposed to be a secret but someones girl leaked to Mike Johnson. Good for EC3, make that money man. Hopefully this will further open the door for the two promotions to work together.
Announced for next weeks show is Eddie Edwards vs Eric Young, Ace Austin & Madman vs The Rascals, and Sami Callihan vs RVD. Taya will also take on Rosemary in a Wrestlehouse match in a winner take all, including John E Bravo, match.
Something interesting finally happened on Xplosion: Matt Striker made his return to commentary teaming up with Don Callis. According to PWInsider Striker has been working as a Producer for the company since the Nashville tapings. The show also featured a sit-down interview with Willie Mack and a matchup between Zachary Wentz vs. Mintz.
