The two first fought 22 years ago, back at UFC 17.5. The fight ended with one of the all-time legendary knockouts as Belfort exploded on The Axe Murderer quickly with his incredible hand speed and great power. This potential which is hardly huge nor all that surprising as the two have wanted to fight each other for years. If they were to rematch in Asia, they wouldn’t have those pesky USADA tests to worry about and both fighters should be at full strength.
The big news came when he stated that he was interested in a fight with boxing legend and former Cruiserweight and Heavyweight Champion Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield.
“We don’t just have Wanderlei on the horizon but we have Holyfield. We have everyone on aim. I’m aiming for all these legends. I’m looking forward to bringing something that has never been done before.”
The 57 year old Holyfield has been itching for a comeback and is an amazing shape. Should he return he would join boxing legends Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr, Oscar de La Hoya, and Sergio Martinez in either being rumored for comebacks or in the case of Tyson and Jones, scheduled for comebacks. Boxing is entering their 1997 WCW phase with all these major drawing cards from decades prior looking to return for big paydays.
The likelihood of Belfort getting a fight with someone the likes of Holyfield is very slim, but it is 2020 and all bets are off. Should be noted that Vitor has historically been incredibly full of shit, which would be right in line with his current boss Chatri Sityodtong who is a world heavyweight champion bullshitter.
