NJPW Announces Super J Cup featuring New Japan, ROH, and IMPACT Talent

New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the return of the Super J Cup on December 12. What is interesting to note is that the tournament will feature talent from NJPW, ROH, IMPACT, and top Indies.

El Phantasmo, TJP, Lio Rush, ACH, Rey Horus, Chris Bey, Clark Conners, and Blake Christian will all compete for the trophy this year. The most interesting entry besides former WWE Cruiserweight champion Lio Rush, is Chris Bey. The 24 yr old former X-Division champion Bey is currently under contract to IMPACT and is making his New Japan debut. New Japan has been hesitant to work with IMPACT in the past but not only are they using him, they announced him as an IMPACT talent and IMPACT also made their own announcement, helping to promote the show. Maybe this will crack that forbidden door even more.

The tournament will be held in the Los Angeles area with no fans. Here’s the official announcement:

Best of the Super Jr. 27 isn’t the only junior heavyweight showcase to be taking place this winter, as Super J-Cup 2020 has been announced, emanating from the US and airing live worldwide on December 12! With a 26 year legacy of bringing the greatest junior heavyweights together regardless of promotional affiliation, Super J-Cup returned after a three year absence in 2019, as a series of thrilling cards captivated crowds on the west coast of the US. This time, fans around the world will witness the action live, as the following eight competitors battle it out for the famous gold winner’s jacket.
