IMPACT Wrestling presents “Genesis” tonight on IMPACT Plus and Fite TV. Tonights show features the first Super-X Cup tournament since 2017. The main event will be an “I Quit” match between Moose and Willie Mack. Something that should not be lost on anyone watching, is that last months Final Resolution had a main event of Chris Bey challenging Rich Swann for the Impact title, which was the first time two black wrestlers main evented a PPV for a major company since 2002. Well IMPACT is doing it again this month.
Another cool thing about this show, is that it features many new faces from the Indies. Blake Christian, Tre Lamar, and KC Navarro are all making their IMPACT PPV debuts in the tournament. While “Final Resolution” as a whole was very disappointing and up until the main event, “Genesis” has the opportunity to be an absolute sleeper, if IMPACT allows it. The talent in the tournament could have some match of the year candidates if the gaga is kept to a minimum, and that is my hope. With that being said, here are my predictions, including how I see the tournament playing out.
Super X Cup Round 1: A-Side
Ace Austin beats Suicide
Jake Deaner beats Daivari
Super X Cup Round 1: B–Side
Tre Lamar beats Crazzy Steve
Blake Christian beats KC Navarro
Super X Cup Semi-Finals
Ace Austin beats Jake Deaner
Blake Christian beats Tre Lamar
Super X Cup Finals
Ace Austin deafeats Blake Christian in a hell of a match (my wish)
Knockouts Dream Match
Jordynne Grace beats Jazz
I Quit Match
Moose defeats Willie Mack
Mike’s Take: Keeping my subscription to IMPACT plus really hinges on the quality of this show. A good 85% of the matches at Final Resolution featured interferences and distraction finishes. I’m hoping all that is kept to a minimum tonight. Relying on that too much is leading to a major downfall in RAW and Smackdown, and IMPACT should really try to be the opposite of them. Here’s to hoping for a fun show tonight.
