The much anticipated welterweight showdown between contenders Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev will take place in the main event of UFC Fight Night on March 13.
Edwards (18-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) and Chimaev (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) were originally set to face off at UFC Fight Night 183 but the fighth was cancelled due to Edwards testing positive for COVID. The fight was then rescheduled for Jan 20 but Chimaev had his own issues with COVID. The event does not currently have a venue set nor have any of the other matches on the show been announced.
Mike’s Take: Screw the rest of the card, just gimme Chimaev vs Edwards. Kidding. I hope to God this fight eventually happens. This will be Chimaevs biggest test to date, as Edwards truly is a top 2 or 3 welterweight and would likely get a title shot with an impressive win here.
