The January 26th edition of IMPACT on AXS TV averaged 186K viewers with a .05 in the 18-49 demo. They ranked 118 on the Showbuzz top 150. This is up 20% from last week and their highest rating since December 8th (Omega Debut; 221K). The big hook for this week was a mystery partner in their 8-man main event tag, which turned out to be Trey Miguel returning to the company.
Mike’s Take: Thats a total shock. But I assumed it would be up over last week because they were hurt by inauguration coverage and I figured that word of mouth about how good last week was would travel, and it did. Unfortunately they had a pretty average episode for their biggest audience in months.
Moose’s Contract Expiring Soon?
Fightful Select is reporting that Moose’s contract is set to expire this June. At Hard to Kill, Don Callis inferred that Moose had signed a two-year deal with the company but Sean Ross Sapp is reporting that that is not the case.
Mike’s Take: Sapp is usually spot on so there is definitely something to this. I couldn’t imagine though that there isn’t some sort of an agreement in place or else why would the company go out of their way to make it seem like he has signed? Moose would be a great get for any company but has stuck with IMPACT because they have overlooked his baggage from the NFL.
Main Event Announced For No Surrender
IMPACT announced that Rich Swann will defend the title at No Surrender on February 13th. The show, while not a PPV is an app exclusive that will cost money. The idea is Swann wants to give Tommy a present for his 50th birthday.
Mike’s Take: I hope they are fucking kidding.
